FAQ: How do I set the proxy in my browser in order to access the job status page for the cluster?

Answer:

  1. First, tunnel a connection from your localhost (TCP port 8888) to the Cloud web proxy server (TCP port 8888) as described in the CloudFaqLogin page.
  2. The procedure varies between client OS and browsers, but below are examples of several popular ones

Firefox

Internet Explorer (V.8, Windows XP):

Firefox on Linux

  • Go to "Edit" -> "Preferences" (Linux)
  • Click on the "Advanced" icon and then the "Network" tab in the window that opens
  • Clock on the "Settings..." button
  • Select "Automatic Proxy Configuration URL:"
  • Copy the following URL and type/paste it as the URL of the "Automatic Proxy Configuration"
  • Click on the "OK" button to close the "Connection Settings" window and then the "Close" button to close the "Firefox Preferences" window

Firefox on Mac OS X

Safari on Mac OS X (manual)

  • Go to Preferences->Advanced->Proxies->Change Settings...
  • Configure Proxies: Manually
  • Select a protocol to configure: Web Proxy (HTTP)
  • Web Proxy Server: localhost : 8888
  • Click "OK" to save changes

Safari on Mac OS X (automatic)
